"Strelka has a smouldering inflection in her voice that bridges the gap between Jane Birkin and Nico, while the instrumentals, marked by minimal drum programming, droning synth leads, sparse, jazzy bass lines and fractured, delayed guitar distortion, would perfectly soundtrack many films by David Lynch and Alejandro Jodorowsky." - Exclaim! Hey Mother Death’s debut album Highway is a dubwise, spoken word album embedded with deep soul and cinematic overtones; a layered piece of music that grew over time and distance. The bilingual duo of Denma Peisinger from Halifax, Nova Scotia and Laurence Strelka from Paris recorded these songs at a 13th century house in rural France, where they both learned to conjure spells and control current with emotion. The two explored the improvisational possibilities available to them from behind a vintage tape machine and mixing board, an uncommon approach to production in the these days of cheap and easy digital. The result is a collection of tracks that are rich in analogue warmth.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
