Bossa nova pioneer Antonio Carlos Jobim's 1970 release Tide was released as a sequel to 1967's Wave and continues in the same musical direction: a mostly instrumental, jazz/easy listening/bossa nova hybrid but arranged this time by Brazilian Eumir Deodato who brings a jazzier energy to the mix. The album includes an instrumental reworking of Jobim's legendary track The Girl From Ipanema.
