Digital Booklet
"As for the Royal Northern Sinfonia, they have all the responsiveness of a chamber-music ensemble, married to a range and depth of sonority which you might expect from a rather larger ensemble" - Gramophone "The Northern Sinfonia, though it has less than 16 players, sounds adequately forceful…Vogt’s playing in the slow movement [of the Emperor] is suitably rapt, and the whole performance radiates that sense of well-being which the piece demands" - BBC Music Magazine (re: Vogt and Northern Sinfonia's previous Ondine release, "Beethoven: {Piano Concertos Nos. 1 & 5) Soloist Lars Vogt teams up with the Northern Sinfonia once again to bring us a romantic programme featuring the music of Johannes Brahms. Lars Vogt has established himself as one of the leading musicians of his generation. His versatility as an artist ranges from the core classical repertoire of Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms to the romantics Grieg, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov through to the dazzling Lutoslawski concerto. Lars Vogt has performed with many of the world's great orchestras including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, and many more. Royal Northern Sinfonia, Orchestra of Sage Gateshead, is the UK’s only full-time chamber orchestra. Founded in 1958, RNS has built a reputation for the North East through the quality of its music-making and the immediacy of the connections the musicians make with audiences. The orchestra regularly flies the flag for the region at the BBC Proms, Edinburgh Festival and further afield, last year touring to Brazil and in Europe.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
