Digital Booklet
"Disc of the Year. A thrilling performance in which Isokoski's sonorous soprano is matched by atmospheric playing from the Finnish orchestra." - BBC Music Magazine "... an important recording for anyone interested in Sibelius. Isokoski is by far the finest exponent of Sibelius’s vocal work ... this recording surpasses all others ... this is magic: Ondine should be very proud!" - MusicWeb Internatonal "Disc of the Month. Soile Isokoski has never made a more beautiful recording ... she offers what must be, hands down, the finest performance of the tone poem Luonnotar currently available ... a marvelous release in every respect." - ClassicsToday.com This highly-awarded album from Finnish star soprano Soile Isokoski is her first all-Sibelius recording of works for voice and orchestra, including the tone poem Luonnotar and 18 of Sibelius's orchestral songs. Performed in their original languages (Swedish, Finnish), the collection contains almost all the songs of Sibelius that were orchestrated by the composer himself (the only missing song being out of Isokoski's vocal range). Almost all the other songs featured were orchestrated by Jussi Jalas, Sibelius's son-in-law, or by close contemporaries.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
