The Münchner Philharmoniker appears under the direction of Günter Wand in this stunning performance of Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and Schubert's Symphony No. 5. Under the baton of Günter Wand, too, the Munich Philharmonics recorded works of the great Romantic composers, notably symphonies by Anton Bruckner and Johannes Brahms. This performance comes from Warner Classics and Münchner Philharmoniker curation of 125 years of music history choosing some of the most sought after recordings with the great conductors of this and the last century. This exclusive selection includes Hans Knappertsbusch, Fritz Rieger, Eugen Jochum, Sergiu Celibidache, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Günter Wand, Horst Stein, James Levine, Christian Thielemann and Valery Gergiev. With their 125 Years Series set they want to invite audiences around the world to join in their anniversary celebration by making their musical history accessible worldwide. Additionally, this season will be accompanied with the largest media campaign of the Munich Philharmonic as of yet, in terms of radio and tv concert broadcasts.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
