Digital Booklet

"What János Starker lacks in the warmth of emotion he makes up for with the heat of intensity and the same can be said of his conductor-partners in these superb 40-year-old performances ... this is a basic item for every collection."
- Fanfare
All three of these vintage performances were recorded in Watford, England by the London Symphony Orchestra under two different conductors: Stanislaw Skrowaczewski leads the Schumann and Lalo works, recorded in 1962; the Saint-Saëns was conducted by Antal Doráti and recorded in 1964. Master cellist János Starker, who died in 2013, is the featured soloist on the three pieces.
