Uniting the Jewish and Christian faiths through the power of music, Chant For Peace features the million-selling Monks of Stift Heiligenkreuz in a unique collaboration with celebrated Jewish singer Timna Brauer. The album blends the Cistercian brothers’ ancient plainchant with Old Testament texts sung by Brauer, who has represented Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest. For Brauer, the secret to the success of their collaboration is that they are, literally, singing from the same hymn sheet. She explains that the Jewish Yemeni and Hasidic music come from Old Testament psalms, just like the Gregorian chants. Stift Heiligenkreuz is the world’s oldest continuously-occupied Cistercian monastery and, with its community of 90 young monks, the biggest in Europe. The monks became reluctant superstars after the release of their first album and they admit to struggling to come to terms with their new-found fame.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
