Grammy Award - Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, 2016 "There's too much sincerity here to not take it seriously; a lot of virtuosos, particularly the many keyboard players, have fully committed to the one-nation-under-a-groove family ... given their work ethic, it's hard to imagine that League and the 'family' would commit such a document to tape haphazardly; it certainly sounds more post-produced than their typical live-to-tape recordings. The intentional nature of the project seems to surface something more at the core of their ethos. At very least, Culcha Vulcha is big, rich and funky ..." - NPR Only a couple of months after the release of the live Family Dinner Volume Two, Snarky Puppy returns to its roots as an instrumental ensemble on Culcha Vulcha. A departure from its signature live-from-the-studio film and audio style, the band spent a week in the middle of a pecan orchard at a remote studio in Tornillo, Texas, just a five minute walk from the Mexican border. With no cameras or audience and the opportunity to overdub, the Grammy-winning group crafted an album much darker and moodier than any before it. The typical flash and bombastic moments that Snarky Puppy is known for have been replaced by a more patient, restrained, sonically creative approach to both composition and performance. The melodies are intricate, the counterpoint is fluid and groove reigns supreme in mixes that are bass and percussion-heavy.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
