“In this collection of Scarlatti’s keyboard sonatas, Colli disdains the traditional same-key pairings, his own focusing instead on contrast, thus brilliantly illuminating each work’s uniqueness. His beautiful sound consistently beguiles the ear…” - The Sunday Times For this his second volume of Scarlatti sonatas, Federico Colli takes as his starting point the double sonata KK 63 and KK 64. They are two dances, the first (G major) full of vivacity and happiness, the second (D minor) full of indignation and peremptoriness. Working from this concept that opposition is needed to truly experience beauty, Colli has created his own personal double sonatas by pairing works with contrasting tempi, dynamics, character, or feeling. Like the first volume, the album was recorded on a Steinway Model D at Potton Hall in Suffolk.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
