"Korcsolan’s playing is strong and confident, with a really big tone…"
- The WholeNote
"It would be hard to imagine a compilation of these works better played and more vividly recorded. Enthusiastically recommended."
- Fanfare
This recital by violinist Orsolya Korcsolan and pianist Emese Mali cleverly and imaginatively links the music of Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Karl Goldmark and his nephew Rubin Goldmark, three composers who have all made an impact on Korcsolan. The programme includes the world premiere of Rubin Goldmark's piece Plaintive Air and a bonus track by Robert Dauber.
"... I knew that the music of these three 'Golds' would fit together perfectly. Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Carl Goldmark have long been favorites of mine. Rubin Goldmark I discovered later while living in New York and I feel very privileged to be making the first ever recording of his wonderful piece Plaintive Air. All three of these extraordinary composers in one way or another changed the musical landscape of their time."
