The Chicago-based, multiple Grammy-winning ensemble eighth blackbird teams up with independent music icons on this adventurous programme which includes world premieres plus a live performance of the classic and mesmerizing Two Pages by Philip Glass, recorded at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Filament was produced by Bryce Dessner of The National, who also plays guitar and contributes the original piece, Murder Ballades, written especially for eighth blackbird. The album’s title is a metaphor for the threads of friendship, collaboration and mutual influence connecting the composers and performers on the album.
