Mathieu Gaudet follows up his first volume of Schubert Piano Works, The First Romantic, with a compilation of works from the composer's later career. Late Inspirations includes the Sonata No. 3 in E Major, Drei Klavierstücke, and Ungarische Melodie. These pieces provide a image into the aesthetic and compositional sensibilities of a composer contemplating the end of his days. The Piano Sonata in particular was first published in 1843, after the composer's death, by Carl August Klemm in Leipzig. A versatile, passionate musician, Mathieu Gaudet has pursued a remarkable career as a soloist, chamber musician, and conductor for the past 20 years. He commands a vast repertoire of works and has performed across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. His concerts and recordings are regularly broadcast on the French and English services of the CBC.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
