"... a treasure trove of blues, funk and groove ... a collaborative, New Orleans-themed album buried deep in tasty, blues-based rock."
- Guitar World
Following a successful career with her brothers in the band Trampled Under Foot, including a number one blues album in 2013, singer and bassist Danielle Nicole strikes out on her own with Wolf Den, her debut full-length solo album. The Kansas City-raised daughter of musicians already had a solid blues foundation, but she found that groove, or new variations of it, recording in New Orleans with Grammy-winning producer and guitarist Anders Osborne. With influences including Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney and the Neville Brothers, Nicole calls the sound on Wolf Den "blues-based roots" and it’s clear those roots reach deep, straight to the melting pot heart of American music.
"People move to LA and New York to make it big and be famous. I just like to tour the music and play the blues. I’d love to have a hit and I write my music with honesty and the full intention of being the best that I can, but I’m not looking for the million dollar house in the hills. I’m not looking to be a pop princess."
