Digital Booklet
This recording of Rufus Wainwright's debut opera Prima Donna features the BBC Symphony Orchestra and several acclaimed soloists, led by rising young star conductor Jayce Ogren. The two act opera takes place on a day in the life of a great diva who is deciding whether or not to continue her career. With Paris as a backdrop, the opera both borrows from operatic myth and legend as well as Wainwright's own very contemporary personal experiences as a singer. Themes of loss, fear, hope and ultimately acceptance are deeply explored by both the soloists and the orchestra. "Prima Donna was written and performed during the most dramatic period of my life to date and considering my life, that’s pretty dramatic! New arrivals, death, terrible defeat and glorious triumph line the tale of this work both on stage and off, a tale that is still unfolding and that I would both like you to know and even more importantly, be a part of." - Rufus Wainwright

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
