Experimental composer Paula Matthusen’s Pieces for People is a celebration of the creativity that arises from collaboration, reflecting a decade’s worth of work with friends and ensembles whom Matthusen admires. The album places performers inside electronic soundworlds, from expansive and atmospheric to melodic and thematic, exploring the construction of a community through its processes. In between we hear works featuring banjo, organ and larger ensembles that seem to explore friendships as much as soundworlds.
