Digital Booklet
The three Grammy-winning musicians of Just Strings present this programme by Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-winning composer John Luther Adams and his mentor Lou Harrison, considered the godfather of world music. These premiere recordings reveal many new aspects of these two pillars of American music: Harrison's influence on the younger composer directly affected the two sets of infectiously tuneful Alaskan dances, not only in his use of pure tunings but also by the elder’s respect for indigenous music. Harrison’s two charming Harp Suites are filled with music only recently discovered in the composer’s notebooks after his death in 2003. The album concludes with the joyful sound of harp and gamelan on Harrison’s In Honor of the Divine Mr. Handel.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
