Triin Ruubel is featured alongside the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Neeme Järvi as they perform Elgar's Violin Concerto and Stenhammar's 2 Sentimental Romances. Edward Elgar's Violin Concerto in B minor, Op. 61, is one of his longest orchestral compositions, and the last of his works to gain immediate popular success. Even though Elgar's music fell out of fashion in the middle of the twentieth century, and the concerto's reputation as one of the most difficult in the violin repertoire grew (because of its use of constant multiple-stopping, fast and unorthodox string crossings, and massive, rapid shifting around the instrument), it nevertheless continued to be programmed and played by acclaimed violinists. Stenhammar’s Two Sentimental Romances for Violin date from 1910. They were composed and published at the same time and together thus suggesting that he meant for them to be performed together, although this has not always been the case. Romance No.1 in A Major is marked Andantino while Romance No.2 in f minor is marked Allegro patetico. Romance No.1 is sweet, reserved and tender, while the second is passionate and lyrical. Stenhammar's use of the term"sentimental" does not mean insipid or mawkish as the word has come to mean nowadays. At the time of composition sentimental had quite a different meaning—–governed by feeling, sensibility, or emotional idealism Triin Ruubel-Lilleberg became a leader of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra in 2015. She graduated from Tallinn Music High School as a student of Tiiu Peäske and from Rostock University of Music and Drama as a student of professor Petru Munteanu. She is now finishing her master’s degree at the University of Augsburg. The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra is the leading orchestra in Estonia and is based in the capital Tallinn. The orchestra traces it roots to December 18, 1926, the first concert broadcast by Tallinn Radio. The broadcast concert was performed by an ENSO predecessor, a trio headed by Hugo Schütz. The ensemble’s ranks grew steadily, and by 1939 the Radio Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra included 39 performers. Since 2010, its Chief Conductor and Artistic Director has been Neeme Järvi, who was the orchestra’s Chief Conductor also from 1963 until 1979.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
