Sara Schoenbeck and Wayne Horvitz have been musical partners for 20 years, notably in Horvitz’s chamber jazz group The Gravitas Quartet (formed 2004) and his Some Days Are Forever Afternoon project. They formed this duo in 2018 to play a program of their own music – composed, improvised, and everywhere in between, a study of the crossroads where texture and extended technique meet with and support the expression of melody and song. There is something unexpected and quite special in how beautifully the two instruments blend (mostly acoustically, at other times involving electronics on the piano). As Peter Monaghan (Earshot Jazz) points out, “As a double-reed contraption…it’s notoriously difficult to master, let alone import to jazz contexts.”

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
