Michael Jackson and Diana Ross headlined the 1978 film adaptation of the multiple Tony-winning Broadway musical The Wiz, itself based on The Wizard of Oz. The movie's soundtrack combines songs from the original stage production with additional music composed by the album's producer Quincy Jones and other writers. Jackson and Ross scored a hit single with the signature tune Ease On Down The Road while the album broke the Billboard top 40.
