"... a shining example of the great trumpeter stretching into modernist fields."
- All About Jazz
Trumpeter Lee Morgan recorded Search For The New Land in early 1964, only a few months after finishing work on his landmark of hard bop, The Sidewinder. Featuring the dream team of Wayne Shorter on sax, Herbie Hancock on keyboards, Grant Green on guitar, Reggie Workman on bass and Billy Higgins on drums, this album wouldn't see the light of day for more than two years, but it received glowing praise once it finally did come out in 1966.
