A decade of performing, touring and recording has given the players in the unadorned acoustic trio Phronesis a matchless rapport that inspires an ever-flowing fountain of new music, captured to perfection on the Anglo-Scandinavian group's sixth album. Recorded in a single day at London’s fabled Abbey Road Studios, Parallax is brilliantly realized; showcasing both the extraordinary communication between the players and the trademarks of the group's work: rhythmic drive, constant shifts in mood and texture and drama heightened by dazzlingly fast reactions, all leavened by the melodic sense the musicians draw on as much when improvising as composing. This is a true collaborative effort between pianist Ivo Neame, bassist Jasper Høiby and percussionist Anton Eger, with each member contributing three of the nine titles, delivered in supremely interactive performances that display a captivating brand of wit.
