Elektra/Warner release this collection of alternate takes of The Doors' "Queen of the Highway", taken from the upcoming 50th anniversary reissue of their seminal fifth studio album, Morrison Hotel. Morrison Hotel was released in February of 1970 on Elektra Records, at the height of the Vietnam War and unrest at home in the United States. It is widely regarded as one of the Doors’ best albums, featuring topical tracks like “Peace Frog” and the band’s signature bluesy romps in “Waiting for the Sun” and “You Make Me Real.” The album peaked at #4 on the Billboard chart and the signature hit “Roadhouse Blues” continues to be one of the band’s most beloved songs to this day with over 125 million streams. The reissue will feature outtakes with recordings from three different sessions. Early takes feature session musician Harvey Brooks on bass, while later takes feature guitar great Lonnie Mack playing bass and The Lovin' Spoonful's John Sebastian on harmonica.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
