"... an entirely different order of magnitude ... the recording is very good, with the indistinct atmospheres of some passages well expressed, the detail in others captured with refinement." - MusicWeb International "Five Stars ... this performance is perfectly judged: Carolin Widmann is a fabulously assured and poetic soloist, taking minute care over the smallest, apparently most insignificant details ... Emilio Pomarico ensures that the orchestral playing is equally refined and scrupulous. It's a beautiful, haunting disc." - The Guardian "Five Stars ... a masterful interpretation of this difficult opus ... Widman and Pomàrico do justice to Feldman's ingenious legacy with this exquisite rendition of his brilliantly unique oeuvre. The superb recording techniques, as is the norm with the label, heighten the savouring experience of this provocative album." - All About Jazz Named the 2013 ICMA Artist of the Year, violinist Carolin Widmann turns her attention on this recording to one of the pivotal compositions of Morton Feldman, his Violin And Orchestra, written in 1979. Marking a new direction for the composer, with an almost painterly attention to detail in slowly unfolding music, it is not a concerto in the strict sense of the term: a soloist with orchestral support. The violinist must move inside the glowing colour field of sound and Widmann does so with great delicacy and feeling, exploring the subtle orchestral texture, crafted together with conductor Emilio Pomàrico and the players of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
