Digital Booklet
"... enough memorable moments came from the session to make this a very worthwhile LP ... a classic performance that should be in any thoughtful collector’s library." - DownBeat "... this disc's title could hardly be more accurate ... the music is unquestionably excellent, yielding sterling and signature input from each participant ... the results are significant and timeless." - All About Jazz For once, album title hyperbole is understatement. Here are three of the four tunes recorded at the legendary December 1954 gathering of Miles Davis, Milt Jackson, Thelonious Monk, Percy Heath and Kenny Clarke. The Man I Love is heard in two exceptional and different takes, Monk reprises Bemsha Swing from his trio sessions and Davis makes one of his earliest statements in the realm of scales and modes with Swing Spring. Completing the programme, the classic 1956 Miles Davis Quintet performs a signature arrangement that was among the first to announce the arrival of John Coltrane: 'Round Midnight.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
