Well-known Supertramp Saxophonist John Helliwell releases his brand new album, Ever Open Door, on Challenge Records. As the artist says, "Ever Open Door is an appropriate title for this album because my musical influences are wide-ranging — I’m always listening."
It’s an album of ballads performed by Helliwell on tenor saxophone and clarinet, The Singh String Quartet, and John Ellis on Hammond organ. They recorded the album in concert at the Storyhouse Theatre, Chester, UK in July 2019, and stayed another day recording without the audience. All the recordings are “live” either with or without the audience. The arrangements are by Andy Scott, who also wrote three of the tunes.
