"... explores the furthest reaches of the harp's repertoire: music by Steve Reich, John Cage, Marjan Mozetich, Frank Zappa and Gentle Giant ... a personal statement from Milot ... (brings together) some fine chamber musicians from her native Quebec."
- CBC Music
Canadian harpist Valérie Milot chose the title of this album to acknowledge the circle of valued musical colleagues she has worked with over the years and to reference the loop as a musical concept, a seemingly simple melodic or rhythmical motif that serves as both framework and source of inspiration. The programme features six complementary approaches, ranging from music by John Cage, Gentle Giant and Frank Zappa to the premiere of violinist Antoine Bareil’s Castille 1382, written especially for Milot.
"When your instrument is the harp, you have to be polyvalent. I like to play all sorts of music, as long as it is coherent with my classical discipline. To me, the music of Frank Zappa and Gentle Giant has a lot of classical music sources, especially for its contrapuntal motions."
- Valérie Milot
