The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and conductor Paul Hillier dedicate this collection of choral music to Estonian composer Galina Grigorjeva, known for her deeply spiritual and timeless sacred vocal works. Recorded in the presence of the composer, the album include the powerful title piece Nature Morte based on poetry by Joseph Brodsky. Elements of folk music can also be heard in the vocal suite Svjatki which incorporates Russian folk texts. Other vocal works on the programme follow traditional Latin and Slavic liturgical texts.
