Rafael Orozco is acclaimed as one of the great Spanish concert pianists. His professional career began after he won first prize in the 1966 Leeds International Piano Competition in the UK. His large repertoire included works by Franz Liszt, Franz Schubert, Manuel de Falla, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Isaac Albéniz. Here he performs a stunning programme of music by the master composers Robert Schumann, Frédéric Chopin, and Isaac Albéniz, capped off by the feature piece of Sergei Prokofiev's Piano Sonata No. 2, Op. 14. The Piano Sonata No. 2 in D Minor, Op. 14 (1912), is a sonata composed for solo piano. It was premiered on February 5, 1914 in Moscow with the composer performing. Prokofiev dedicated the work to his friend and fellow student at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Maximilian Schmidthof, who committed suicide in 1913.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
