Bergen singer-songwriter Marion Rodgers presents her new album, Ting På Hjertet ("Matter of the Heart"). On the release, Rodgers tells small stories through her songs in a peculiar way. The poetry of her songs are tell big stories about small things, and speak to people of all audiences. The timeless feeling of the music is created by the use of classical instruments like harp and cello, but the melodies are also inspired by the classical composers of the 17th-18th century, such as Vivaldi and Mozart. The symmetry of the melodies are important, but also supplemented by the fact that M. Rodgers is a jazz vocalist with a need to balance the crisp aesthetic of her music with some cracks – just enough to push the perfect harmonies in a little bit more interesting direction.
