Walter Susskind heads the Philharmonia Orchestra in accompaniment of the great Violinist Tibor Varga in this programme of Violin Concertos from Bruch and Mozart. Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26, is one of the most popular violin concertos in the repertoire and is one of the composer's most famous works. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 1 in Bb major, K. 207, was composed while Mozart was still a teenager, and is full of brilliant passage work with running sixteenth notes. Violinist, conductor, and world renowned music teacher Tibor Varga was a founding member of the string department in the Detmold music conservatory and was known for developing pedagogic methods for teaching string music. He was a giant figure in 20th century concert music.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
