More than 35 years after its inception, the Yellowjackets continue to evolve artistically on Cohearence. Founding keyboardist Russell Ferrante, longtime reeds player Bob Mintzer and drummer Will Kennedy are joined by new recruit, virtuoso electric bassist Dane Alderson, on these songs featuring a range of jazz flavours, including a rousing Weather Report jazz fusion vibe, a swinging switch-up on John Coltrane’s Giant Steps, a moving rendition of a folk song classic, a funky soul-jazz excursion and the chamber jazz-like grace on the final track, Cohearence. The album plays out as a multifaceted document of how far the once fusion band has come.

"There’s a lot of gratitude (celebrating our 35 years) ... it’s never been a given to us that we’d continue to be able to have the opportunity to write and record for that length of time. But you couldn’t have that in place unless you had a band of generous, giving musicians, none of whom have ever been ego’ed out.”
- Russell Ferrante, keyboardist

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
