Christina Åstrand's new album Romance brings together a personal selection of rarely heard Danish violin romances, recorded by Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Åstrand herself conducted by Jukka Iisakkila.
The period around the turn of the century was a star moment for the violin, where several Danish composers created a marvellous repertoire of short, melodic pieces for the violin. At the concert the duo will present works by August Enna and Niels W. Gade as well as romances by Carl Nielsen and Ludolf Nielsen from this period.
