"... gives access to the rare resource of a symphony orchestra. There are some more unusual choices and I think that’s what makes this disc really fascinating ... (Roth) is someone who is trying to shake things up and I think a major force is emerging there. I love hearing these ..."
- BBC Radio 3

"This stimulating release is every bit as impressive as its predecessor ... it is superbly played and recorded, clear, faithful and dynamic, with stunning impact when required ... each composer here represented is imaginative and confident ... of course they benefit hugely from the Panufnik Scheme, having the LSO on scintillating form and from the dedicated conducting of François-Xavier Roth ... enthusiastically recommended for the music, the performances and for the outstanding quality of the recorded sound ..."
- ClassicalSource.com

This album contains new works by emerging composers, all of whom have been members of the Panufnik Composers Scheme. Devised by the London Symphony Orchestra in association with Lady Panufnik in memory of her late husband, composer Sir Andrzej Panufnik, the Scheme each year offers six composers the opportunity to write a three minute piece for the LSO. The selected works featured on this second volume in the series were recorded live in session by the LSO under the baton of François-Xavier Roth, a conductor renowned for his interpretations of contemporary music.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
