Acclaimed recorder player Michala Petri and the Danish National Vocal Ensemble followed their 2011 ECHO Klassik-winning album The Nightingale with this fulfilment of a long-standing dream for all participants: a collection of songs from the Danish heartland. Petri and the DNVE are joined by conductor and composer Michael Bojesen on a beautiful and exciting journey, a programme of some of the most popular Danish folk songs presented in fresh arrangements for recorder and choir by Bojesen. Without speaking the language, the music conveys the atmosphere of the Danish homeland, its indescribable beauty, its unspoiled nature, the colour of the wind and the restless sea.
