"... Toccata Classics label launches potentially one of its most important projects with this first volume devoted to the piano music of Harold Truscott ... a composer who expressed himself naturally in this medium, though there is nothing derivative or facile in his approach ... throughout the programme, Ian Hobson plays with a combination of accuracy and intensity ideal for this music ... the sound has commanding presence and clarity ... Truscott has a notable place in mid-20th century British music and this first volume of his piano music could not be more welcome."
- ClassicalSource.com

Harold Truscott enjoyed a reputation as one of Britain's most perceptive writers on music, a doughty champion of many neglected composers who have now become familiar figures. Truscott himself was a composer of some stature, writing in an individual style rooted in Beethoven and Schubert but also showing influences of Nielsen, Medtner and Hindemith. English pianist and conductor Ian Hobson presents this first album in a series showcasing Truscott's substantial oeuvre of piano music.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
