Displaying a precocious talent for the piano, Mahani Teave left her native Rapa Nui (Easter Island) to further her studies, moving first to the Chilean mainland, and later to the United States and Europe. On the brink of a glittering international career, she decided to return to Rapa Nui to devote herself to the musical education of the island's children. David Fulton was so stunned by her performance, on an old tired piano, during a stopover visit on the island, that he arranged for her and her family to come to Seattle and make an album, the remarkable results of which you can hear now.
