The First Readings Project was founded in 2012 by composer, conductor and singer J. David Moore, arising from his deep love of choral singing and desire to encourage innovation and experimentation in the repertoire. He envisioned a choir of professional singers who could act as collaborators and mentors for composers developing new pieces. The composers use the choir as a vocal laboratory to make changes, explore alternatives and respond to the results in real time. The composers also get the benefit of a professionally engineered live recording to demonstrate and promote their work while audiences at these public events gain insight into the practical process by which new music is created. This is the inaugural release in the series of albums, spotlighting new choral music by seven living composers from around the world.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
