On her double Grammy-winning fourth album, acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sarah Jarosz displays a newfound confidence and a more minimalist production, focused on her upfront vocals and most personal writing to date. Undercurrent, co-produced by Jarosz and Grammy-winning engineer and producer Gary Paczosa, features Jarosz on guitar, octave mandolin and banjo with tasteful accompaniment by Jedd Hughes and Luke Reynolds (Guster) on guitars and harmony vocals with Mark Shatz contributing bass. Jarosz’s bandmates Sara Watkins and Aoife O'Donovan from I'm With Her make an appearance on the Jarosz/O'Donovan song Still Life. The themes running through Jarosz’s writing range from transitions in life and love to nostalgia and reflect the unique way Jarosz combines her early roots background with more recent influences stemming from her move to New York City. Undercurrent encapsulates a true artist during the process of personal evolution and discovery.
