Since his first performances in Asia and the release of his first solo album in 2008, pianist Mathieu Gaudet has quickly established himself on the Canadian scene as a complete artist hailed for the passion and intelligence of his musical approach. For the past two years, Gaudet has committed himself to a multi-volume survey of the works of Schubert, continuing with volume four, Explorations. As Gaudet puts it: "Between his early 'post-Mozartean' sonatas and late masterpieces of symphonic proportions, Schubert spent the years 1817 and 1818 exploring the possibilities of the piano sonata, through unusual harmonic relationships, intensive use of trills, heightened virtuosity, lengthy chord repetitions, and extreme dynamic contrasts." This volume covers that period. Mathieu Gaudet is a regular guest of the Arte Musica Foundation, and has already performed several solo and chamber music concerts in Montréal’s Bourgie Hall. His summers have been busy with frequent appearances at the Concerts aux Iles du Bic festival and the Ahuntsic en Fugue festival, for which he has been co-artistic director since 2015.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
