Digital Booklet
The Resound Beethoven collection brings the orchestral music of Beethoven back to its original Viennese halls and theatres. Four of the six venues where debut performances were held still exist today, as do the eight Viennese theatres where the composer’s works were performed in his lifetime. The orchestral forces of the Wiener Akademie under Martin Haselböck correspond in size and instrumentation to those used by the composer, while producers reproduced the specific acoustic qualities of the room with fullness and transparency. The focus of this programme is theatre music: Herbert Föttinger appears as the narrator in Egmont while John Malkovich narrates the English version. "It fills us with great joy and gratitude that John Malkovich, with whom we have already had the pleasure of collaborating for several years, has taken on the part of the narrator ... with our interpretations we wish to offer you music in the sound of its own time: we want to add to the possibilities of historical instruments the sound and the aura of the concert halls in which the composer himself conducted and experienced his works." - Martin Haselböck

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
