This recording from The Marian Consort brings to life the fastidious work of Elizabethan scholar and bibliophile Robert Dow, who painstakingly copied a large number of pieces of music into partbooks. By no means merely an academic exercise, Dow carried out his meticulous work in order to be able to use these parts in convivial music making with friends.
