"Four Stars ... (Minnaar) has a maturity and purity to his playing which places him firmly in the tradition of Alfred Brendel (with whom he has studied in master classes) or András Schiff ... (Minnaar's interpretation of the Busoni) is restrained yet intense. He plays through a phrase with a sense of continuity and purpose and his musical intelligence sings out."
- The Guardian

"Five Stars ... (Minnaar) at once establishes his Bachian credentials ... combines a sense of inspirational fantasy with unfailing structural flair. His golden touch and linear sensitivity highlights the music’s internal logic ... (on the Liszt) Minnaar hurls himself into the fray with thrilling abandon ... still more remarkable is a magical account of Franck’s Prélude, Choral et Fugue, in which the composer’s sometimes awkward finger patterns dissolve into radiant textural shimmerings of Debussyan allure ... a joyously exultant reading (of the Rachmaninoff)."
- BBC Music Magazine

On his second solo recording, award-winning Dutch pianist Hannes Minnaar underlines Bach's tremendous influence on many other composers, including Liszt, Busoni, Rachmaninoff and César Franck. Liszt in particular became a passionate advocate for Bach’s music. As a touring piano virtuoso, he aroused wild enthusiasm with his own arrangements of several of Bach’s major organ compositions, establishing the foundation for a vast repertoire of arrangements and transcriptions that followed in succeeding generations. Minnaar presents a varied selection of these pieces on this highly-praised album.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
