German-American pianist André Previn appears as the soloist, backed by the London Symphony Orchestra lead by Sir Adrian Boult, for this presentation of Mozart's Piano Concertos Nos. 17 & 24. The Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major, KV. 453 was written in 1784. The finale is a variation movement whose theme was sung by Mozart's starling. The Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor, K. 491 was composed in the winter of 1785–1786, finished on 24 March 1786, three weeks after the completion of Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major. The work is one of only two minor-key piano concertos that Mozart composed, the other being the No. 20 in D minor. None of Mozart's other piano concertos features a larger array of instruments: the work is scored for strings, woodwinds, horns, trumpets and timpani.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
