"... The RSNO perform with aplomb and plenty of colour ..."
- Gramophone

"... has no end of interesting color and a spectacular Hollywood finale made for a great sound system ... sit back, bask in the sonic orgy ..."
- American Record Guide

"Every Strauss lover needs a recording of this ballet ... (Järvi and company offer) a reading of exceptional liveliness ... there are no dead spots and the climaxes are really exciting as belted out by the Scottish National players ... this stands out as perhaps the most vivid (recorded version) of all ... excellent sonics make this a treat for Straussians and the curious ..."

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra under famed conductor Neeme Järvi perform orchestral works by Richard Strauss on this acclaimed recording. The ballet Josephslegende is based on the Biblical tale of Joseph in Egypt after being sold into slavery by his brothers. The album also includes the orchestral finale of Strauss’s opera Feuersnot and the Festmarsch, Op. 1, his first published orchestral work, written by Strauss when he was only 12 years old.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
