"It’s hard to imagine why a fan of the genre wouldn’t find much to enjoy in this gorgeous and well-executed record." - PopMatters.com Strands from Cleveland electronic music artist and composer Steve Hauschildt is a song cycle about cosmogony and creation/destruction myths. The title alludes to the structural constitution of ropes, as the pieces consist of strands and fibres which form a unified whole. The songs could have the appearance of being either taut or slack without being fundamentally locked to a grid, so the sounds and tones have a certain malleability to them, as if bending through time. "(It's) grittier and more distorted than my previous albums. I wanted to try and capture that moment in nature and society where life slowly reemerges through desolation, so it has a layer of optimism ... the music represents this by seemingly decaying at times but then reforms and morphs in a fluid way back to its original state. I was also inspired by the movement of rivers, particularly their transformative aspect ... in particular the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland where I live, which notoriously caught on fire 13 times because of industrial pollution ... I was very interested in the dichotomy of oil and water and the resulting, unnatural symptoms of human industry. It's a very personal record for me as it is a reflection of my hometown where I grew up and where it was mostly recorded." - Steve Hauschildt

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
