Hubert Hoffmann brings the long-faded lute poems of Pater Ferdinando (Fischer) back to life on this album of world premieres, recorded in one of the quietest studios in all of Europe, the Galaxy Studios in Mol, Belgium. Hoffmann first discovered these works when he visited the Benedictine Abbey of Kremsmünster in Upper Austria and was struck by the music's exquisite quality, high degree of originality and compositional autonomy, together with the considerable technical demands placed upon the lutenist. "It soon turned out that much of the music set down by this scribe was not to be found in the numberless lute manuscripts from this period scattered around the world. These were unique manuscripts. Moreover they contained quite extraordinary works of striking compositional quality: new lute music in the form of cyclical poems of a lute enthusiast, a padre, at the turn of the 17th/18th centuries." - Hubert Hoffmann

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
